Many AAPRCO members took part in Amtraks National Train Day in various locations in the USA. Our authors chronicled their role in New York City's Grand Central Station 100-year celebration: the Parade of Trains that took place the same weekend in May 2013. Also participating in New York were Babbling Brook, Birken, Kitchi Gammi, Ohio River, Dover Harbor, NYC No. 43 and the Hickory Creek.
Ride 'em Cowboy! by PV Publisher and past president R.J. Barton.
The AAPRCO-sponsored special train Cheyenne Cowboy Limited to and from the mid-term member and Board meetings in Cheyenne during May 15-18. Larry Ostresh, a retired professor of Geography from the University of Wyoming, guided a tour to the Ames Monument and Dale Creek Crossing on the old transcontinental right-of-way. Photographs highlight other side trips such as the UP Steam Shop, the Wasatch Railroad Contractors facility, and a tour of North Platte's Golden Spike Tower overlooking Union Pacific's Bailey Yard. A route map of the special train includes UP's operating schedule and color-coded route keys.

There were so many great photos shot during the 2013 convention, we included a few more standouts in this issue: City of Spokane, Chef Charles Van Campen in the Mount Vernon kitchen, the Cannon Ball and a fantastic two-page spread of all the cars that were parked at the Norfolk Southern yard in Asheville, North Carolina during the stop at the Biltmore Estate.
